Tailbox repairs / new tailbox

 

Bike (front) and trike (rear) with tailboxes. The trike tailbox is in good condition and today I worked on the bike tailbox. Its old but looks good from a distance..........

, not so good closeup, verneers are splitting and there are .......

repairs,

splits and cracks in it.

Today's repair. I took off the side panel (held on with foldback clips) and replaced 4 broken cable ties on the front edge. Being overloaded, old cable ties and speed bumps all conspired!

This new tailbox is on order through CNC routing. Hopefully the one shown above can be replaced soon, and the new one will be lighter and more aerodynamic.
